Is Mentoring and Coaching Different ?

Coaching and mentoring are two terms that many believe are interchangeable. While there are some similarities in these two positions, their real responsibilities and rights vary slightly. The goal of both a coach and a mentor is relatively the same - to help improve their performance in a particular area of ​​your life or career. However, a coach and mentor each pursue their duties in a unique way.

A coach can see the routines, activities and strategies of their students and provide them with feedback that will help them make the decisions necessary to create an environment for success. The coach's main job is to find and correct the problems or weaknesses within a person and performance. Coaches help you develop skills and increase knowledge in a specific area. Usually, a coach is a stranger who has no personal relationship with the people they are working. A mentor has a one-on-one with the person being mentored. His position is not so much a job, but a friend with a higher level of expertise, helping someone on the road. Usually, the mentor will use his own experience to help guide his protege on track through business and personal decisions. Offer advice and constructive criticism, which allows people to learn from their mistakes and successes. While mentoring programs are usually installed for the benefit of the individual mentor, mentors, many find that they learn and grow throughout their experience, too.

While the intent of a mentor and a coach often times someone coach mentors who have developed a unique relationship with the positions differ greatly in the art. Those who try to determine whether a training program or a mentoring program is the best option for them should consider their own learning style. The success of these programs depends on the personality and needs of the person trying to make improvements.
